October 13th was a beautiful day at the Phoenix Club. Thanks to the invitation from the Long Beach Section, we were able to show our 1967 250SL along with 18 other proud Mercedes-Benz owners. We all received free admission and tickets towards food and drinks.
The oldest car was a 1952 220B convertible belonging to Ham Holste. Nadine and Bob Schwartz brought two vehicles, an '07 CL550 and Nadines's '06 B200 turbo. Lynn and Shirley Hern showed their '09 SL550 while Samantha Lurey, a new club member, showed her 2011 E350. Jim Salisbury brought his 1989 190E while two 2012s were shown, Charles and Robin Wasle's C250 and Harry Gersten's C63 AMG. Marcy and Dale Becker had two cars, a '73 450SLC and an'84 380SL. Jim and Pat Stone showed their '05 ML350.
We ate German food, drank German beer and listened to German music. Some of us even learned to polka. We had a great time looking at each other's cars and enjoying the day. As we left, we were thanked for coming and told that they would like us to return for next year's Octoberfest. Many thanks to the Long Beach Section and to Gerhard Fehrmann for all their hard word on this fun event.
